History

1944 - The Fire Company was organized by 32 men & women equipped with Office of Civilian Defense (OCD) hand pumps, sirens, pumpers trailer, and 1936 Diamond T Truck.

1945 - A pump and 600 gallon tank mounted on Diamond T truck

1946 - OCD equipment purchased for $420 by money raised by the Ladies Auxiliary.

1947- Town of Glenville Fire District No. 6 (West Glenville, NY) was organized. A parcel was purchased, and two bay garage constructed. The West Glenville Volunteer Fire Company was incorporated under NY law.

1951 - A 1949 Ford truck chassis was purchased. It was equipped with front-mounted pump, 900 gallon tank, ladders, hose and tools over a 3 year period. The 1936 Diamond T truck was retired.

1954 - A 1954 International fire truck was purchased with front mounted pump and 900 gallon tank.

1960 - A War surplus 3/4 ton weapons carrier purchased. It was equipped with a 100 gallon tank, pump, tools for fighting grass and woods fires.

1965 - New fire station built with 3 truck bays, meeting room, and kitchen.

1968 - A 1953 Ford truck was purchased from Galway Fire District and rebuilt with front mounted pump and 900 gallon tank. The 1940 truck was retired.

1975 - A 1949 Ward LaFrance fire truck was purchased from KAPL. It was equipped with our first center mounted pump (1200gpm).


1977 - A 1957 Ward LaFrance fire truck was purchased form Beukendaal Fire Company and rebuilt. The 1954 International was retired.

1985 - A 1967 American LaFrance diesel/automatic was purchased from East Glenville Fire Company and rebuilt. The 1953 Ford truck was retired.

1993 - A 1975 diesel/automatic Maxim fire truck was purchased from the Village of Colonie and rebuilt. The 1957 Ward LaFrance was retired.

1997 - A 1981 diesel/automatic Continental fire truck was purchased from Mountain View Fire Company and rebuilt. The 1949 Ward LaFrance was converted to a parade truck.
